Volvo XC60: How to Reset Oil Light

Learn how to Reset the Oil Change Light in the Volvo XC60 by following the uncomplicated steps under one of the options below.

2017 – 2023 Models

  1. Start the engine.
  2. Use the steering wheel controls to navigate to the menu on the instrument cluster.
  3. Locate and select the “Vehicle Settings” option indicated by a gear or wrench icon.
  4. Select “Maintenance” or “Service.”
  5. Select “Reset Oil” or “Reset Service.”
  6. A confirmation message will appear asking if you want to reset the oil life or service reminder. Confirm the reset by selecting “Yes.”
  7. Turn off the engine.

2008 – 2016 Models

Option 1

  1. Start the engine.
  2. Locate the trip odometer button on the instrument cluster labeled with a “T1” or “T2” button.
  3. Press and hold the trip odometer button until the instrument cluster display shows a message or the oil light flashes.
  4. Release the trip odometer button and then press it again within a few seconds. This action will initiate the reset procedure.
  5. Continue holding the trip odometer button for a few more seconds until the oil light or message disappears from the instrument cluster.
  6. Turn off the engine.

Option 2

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the on position or position one without starting the engine.
  2. Using the controls on the left side of the steering wheel, press and hold the bottom button through the entire reset.
  3. Step on the brake and start the engine. Continue to hold the bottom button.
  4. Paying attention to the dash, wait about ten seconds. As soon as the warning light starts flashing, release the bottom button.
    • You will see MAINTENANCE REMINDER RESET in the dashboard.
  5. Switch the vehicle off and then back on.

The warning light should be gone!

*TIP: After each oil change and new filter, the maintenance oil light indicator should disappear automatically. However, if it does not, it will need resetting for effective performance. Additionally, this indicator is included to alert you if there is a problem with the vehicle’s oil and is NOT to be ignored! If the warning is not addressed, this can lead to other unexpected costly engine issues.

**NOTE: If you are unable to reset the oil change notification light in the Volvo XC60 on the first try, repeat the steps. If you are still unsuccessful, contact the dealership for assistance or consult your vehicle user’s manual.
