Volkswagen Polo: Reset Stereo System

As new technology is introduced to the cars we drive, so do new bugs and frustrations, while older tech tends to be forgotten. Follow this guide to reset your Volkswagen Polo’s entertainment system.

2016 – 2022 Models

1. For a soft reset, start your vehicle and power on the stereo system.
2. Press and hold the power button for several seconds.
3. The system will shut down and restart in a few moments.

2015 and Earlier

Earlier models may require a code to unlock the radio system. You can find this code inside the owner’s manual or contact your local VW dealer. Once you have the code, follow these steps:

1. Press and hold both the TP and TA buttons until the word “SAFE” is replaced by four digits on the LCD.
2. Use the numbered buttons to input the code.
3. Now press and hold both the TP and TA buttons again until the code is replaced with the word “SAFE.”
4. Your radio system should now be unlocked.
