Volkswagen Jetta: How To Open Trunk

Learn the different ways to open the trunk of your Volkswagen Jetta. The most used options are key fob buttons and the trunk release inside your car.

2019 – 2022 Models

Open the Trunk with the Key Fob

1. Unlock your vehicle.
2. Press and hold the “Open” button.
3. The trunk will open automatically.

Open the Trunk Manually from the Inside

If your key fob isn’t working, newer Volkswagen Jetta models have an emergency lever to open the trunk from the inside, though this may depend on the options for your car.

1. If you can see the cable within the trunk’s latching mechanism, you may pull the cable in the opposite direction.
2. Pulling the cable should open the lock and pop the trunk open.

2010 – 2018 Models

Open the Trunk with a Key Fob

1. Press the unlock trunk button on your key fob.
2. Or, if you don’t have power locks, use your car key to unlock the trunk.
3. If the car is unlocked, press the button near the front seat to pop open the trunk.
4. Walk to the rear of your car and lift the trunk lid open.

Open the Trunk Without Power

1. Enter the backseat.
2. Locate and pull the seat release lever.
3. Fold the seat forward.
4. Access the trunk and locate the safety release lever.
5. Pull the lever, and the trunk will open.
