2021 – 2022 Models
You can open your Toyota Tundra’s tailgate using these three methods. Note that your Tundra should be unlocked, allowing the tailgate to open automatically.
Key Fob
- On your key fob, press the button with the image of a car with an open trunk.
- Holding the button again will close the tailgate.
Brake Light Buttons
- Next to the brake lights on either side is a large button.
- Press either one, and your tailgate will open.
Tailgate Handle
- Under the handle in the center of the tailgate is another button.
- Press it to open the tailgate automatically.
2014 – 2020
- Locate the handle at the center of the tailgate.
- Insert your hand and lift the handle.
- The tailgate will gently drop down into place.
- You can lock and unlock your tailgate using your key.
