Whether we’re heading to work, running errands, or taking a road trip, we spend considerable time in our car. The last thing any of us wants is to be stuck in the car without a working stereo, so today, we’ll look at how to reset the stereo system on your Toyota.

2015 – 2022 Models
- Turn your car to the “ON” position. Alternatively, press the engine button two times without turning on the vehicle engine.
- Give the multimedia screen time to power on
- Press the PWR-VOL knob for at least 12 seconds. Your stereo should function normally now.
2011 – 2014 Models
Option 1
- Simultaneously press the power and SEEK buttons and keep them down for 50-60 seconds.
Option 2
This option involves using the radio’s 4 or 5-digit code to reactivate the system. You can dismantle your system to retrieve it or call up the nearest Toyota dealership with your VIN and car registration to recover the code.
- Now turn on your car to power on the radio.
- Press the radio’s power button and simultaneously hold down the “1” button and the “up” 🔼arrow. This will reveal four dashes on the display.
- Key in the code with the help of the preset buttons.
2000 – 2010 Models
Option 1
- Disconnect the battery and keep it that way for approximately five minutes.
- Reconnect and check if the stereo has normalized.
Note: All saved radio stations will likely have disappeared and need to be re-entered.
Option 2
You’ll need a radio code here, and we’ve highlighted how to retrieve it above.
- So, with your code on hand, turn the ignition key to the “ACC” position.
- Work with the preset buttons to key in the security code.
Note: You get three attempts, so take your time to enter the code correctly. After three incorrect attempts, the radio will display “OFF,” and you may need to contact a dealer for help.
