Toyota RAV4: Replace Cabin Air Filter

The cabin air or air conditioning filter must be changed regularly for the cleanest air and to maintain air conditioner efficiency. Replace the cabin air filter in the Toyota RAV4 with these steps.

2018 – 2023 Models

  1. Open the glove compartment and remove any contents inside.
  2. Squeeze the sides of the glove compartment inward to release the stoppers and lower the glove compartment to expose the filter housing.
  3. Locate the cabin air filter cover. It is a rectangular-shaped cover with a tab on each side.
  4. Press both tabs inward and pull the cover down to remove it.
  5. Slide the old cabin air filter out.
  6. Install the new cabin air filter into the filter housing, ensuring it is oriented correctly.
  7. Replace the cabin air filter cover by sliding it up and clicking it into place.
  8. Lift the glove compartment back up to its original position and push the sides inward until the stoppers snap into place.

1994 – 2017 Models

  1. Open the glove compartment and remove any contents inside.
  2. Push in on the sides of the glove compartment to disengage the stops, allowing it to drop down.
  3. Locate the filter housing cover. It will be a rectangular plastic cover with tabs on the sides.
  4. Use your fingers or a flathead screwdriver to press the tabs inward and release the cover.
  5. Remove the old cabin air filter from the filter housing.
  6. Insert the new cabin air filter into the filter housing, ensuring it is oriented correctly.
  7. Replace the filter housing cover and snap it into place.
  8. Lift the glove compartment back into place and push in on the sides until the stops engage.

You can replace your Toyota RAV4 filter with one of the EPAuto filters available at Amazon. They will save you money and work just as well.
