2020 – 2022 Models
Method 1: Using a Foot-Activated Liftgate
- If you have not set up foot-activated liftgate options, you need to ensure the feature is turned on before you can use it.
- Begin by scrolling through the instrument cluster windows until you reach the settings panel.
- Scroll down to Vehicle Settings and choose PBD; here, you will confirm that the kick sensor is switched on.
- As you approach the RAV4’s rear end, have your smart key.
- Kick your foot below the rear bumper to trigger the motion sensor.The system will emit a beep and automatically open the liftgate.
Note: It is vital to emphasize that you do not need to keep your foot beneath the car or make physical contact with the vehicle. The liftgate function also reverses, shutting the liftgate automatically with a second kick.
2017 – 2019 Models
Key Fob
- Press 3 x Unlock (Fast) to open or close the liftgate on low-trim models.
- Press and hold unlock to open or close the liftgate on high-trim models.
Front and Rear Open/Close Buttons
- To open or close the liftgate, press the power liftgate button from the inside or back of the car.
2010 – 2016 Models
Using Keys
- If your key fob is in functioning order, press the trunk unlock button.
- Use your car key to unlock the trunk if you don’t have power locks.
- Press the front seat’s trunk opening function while the car is unlocked
Manually Opening
- Locate the trunk release button by opening the driver’s side door.
- Pull up the trunk release lever. A pop-up trunk will display.
- To open the trunk lid, lift it.
