How do you open the fuel door in a Toyota Prius? If you own or have leased one and don’t know how to open the fuel door, this post will teach you how to do it.
2016 – 2023 Models
- Press the fuel tank release button on the left side of the dashboard. The button has a fueling symbol printed on top.
- The fuel door will pop open.
- Turn the gas cap in the counterclockwise direction to open it.
- Hook the gas cap in place to fuel the car.
Alternatively, you can use the following steps when the release button fails to open the fuel door:
- Open the trunk.
- Locate a cover underneath the luggage compartment light.
- Remove this cover to expose a lever.
- Pull the lever to open the fuel door.
2001 – 2015 Models
