Sunroofs are probably the one basic mechanical item on a vehicle that commonly has problems. Sometimes they won’t close all the way. The sunroof on the Toyota Corolla and Toyota Camry are no different. If you are experiencing problems where the sun roof is stuck, won’t open, or won’t close all the way, try resetting the sunroof with these steps.
Sunroof Closes Then Opens
- Stop the vehicle and place the gear in “P“.
- Press and hold the “CLOSE” button, then continue to hold it for about 10 seconds until the moonroof closes, reopens, then closes again.
Sunroof Stuck Tilted Up
- Stop the vehicle and place the gear in “P“.
- Press and hold the “UP” or “TILT” button (depending on your model), then continue to hold it for about 10 seconds until the sunroof pauses, adjust itself, then close.
These steps should work with all sunroofs and moonroofs on all Toyota Corolla and Toyota Camry models.

I have toyota camry 2019 and I guess when the icy storm and ice my car was full of ice and snow. My sunroof won’t open all the way.only half. Can you please help me get fix
If the reset doesn’t work, it’s probably off its track. I had this happen to my Camry. I had to have the dealership take it all apart and reassemble it.
