Toyota Camry: How To Open Trunk

Are you wondering how to open the trunk of a Toyota Camry? Depending on your vehicle model and features, you can open the storage area in three ways: a lever at the driver’s seat, the master/smart key, and a button on the trunk lid.

2017 – 2022 Models

There are three ways to open the trunk in these models: the trunk release lever, your smart key, and a button on the trunk lid.

Trunk Release Lever

  1. Pull the trunk release lever on the driver’s seat.
  2. The trunk will automatically open.

Smart Key

  1. Approach your vehicle’s trunk.
  2. Press and hold the trunk release switch on the smark key until you hear a buzzer.
  3. The trunk will automatically open.

Trunk Opener Button on the Trunk Lid

  1. With your smart key in your pocket, approach the trunk.
    • Alternatively, ensure you have unlocked all doors using the power door lock system.
  2. Press the opener button on the trunk lid.
  3. The trunk will open.

2006 – 2016 Models

You can open the trunk of these models in two ways: using the trunk release lever and smart key.

Smart Key Method

  1. Approach the trunk with your smart key in your hand.
  2. Press and hold the trunk opener switch for a few seconds until you hear a buzzer.
  3. The trunk will automatically open.

Trunk Release Lever Method

  1. Pull the trunk release lever on the driver’s seat.
  2. The trunk will automatically open.

2001 – 2005 Models

Two ways to open the trunk in these models are a master key and a trunk release lever.

Master Key Method

  1. Approach your vehicle’s trunk.
  2. Insert the master key and turn it clockwise to open the trunk.

Trunk Release Lever Method

  1. Pull the trunk release lever on the driver’s seat.
  2. The trunk will open.

  1. 2020 LE, only has two options. Key fob or driver side buttons ext to gas door release. Really kinda annoying not having a button on the trunk lid. What you pay for the name isn’t always necessarily worth it.
