The degree of flare that comes with opening the hood of a Tesla, unveiling the extra space you enjoy over the limitations of cars with engines, should not be understated. However, the flare is lost if you do not know how to do so.
2020 – 2022 Models
Drivers should also note that the front hood will not open if the car is not in park.
Approach 1
- Navigate on the control console on the car’s dashboard to the projection of the car itself.
- You can then tap on the front hood and tap again on the corresponding button to open it.
Approach 2
- Locate the relevant button on the key fob.
- Press and hold the button, and the hold will open.
Note: Whichever approach you take, you will presumably want to close the hood again at some point. You should not slam the Tesla Model Y hood as we typically might with other cars, as this can damage the latches. Instead, the hood should be pushed gently towards the latches and then clicked into place by applying pressure on its center.
