Tesla Model S: Release/Open Fuel Door

All cars need fuel or charged batteries to run. So even if you own a Tesla, you will need to open the charge port so it will work. Below are four ways to open the charge port on your Tesla Model S.

2012 – 2022 Models

Touch Screen

1. Press the lightning bolt symbol at the top of the touch screen.
2. A new screen will come up.
3. Press Open Charge Port.

External

1. Find the charge port near the rear of the car.
2. Push on the charge port. The door will open automatically.

Key Fob

1. Approach the charge port near the back of the car
2. Push and hold the trunk button on your key fob until the door opens.

At Super Charger

1. Park your Tesla near the Super Charger kiosk.
2. Remove the charging cable from the kiosk and find the charge port.
3. Hold the cable close to the charge port.
4. Press and hold the button with the circular symbol until the door opens.
