Tesla Model S: How To Open Trunk

You have various ways to open the trunk on your Tesla Model S. Before you open your trunk, make sure your car is parked.

2017 – 2022

Rear Trunk

1. Using your Tesla’s touchscreen, touch Controls.
2. Select Trunk.

1. Using your Key fob, double-click on the rear trunk button.

OR

1. Using your Tesla phone app, touch the rear trunk button.

OR

1. Use the exterior liftgate’s handle by pressing the switch located under it.
2. It is important to have a valid key nearby if this option is to be used, as Tesla needs to detect the key. The Model S also needs to be unlocked for this option to work.

Front Trunk

1. Using your Tesla’s touchscreen, touch Controls.
2. Select Trunk.

1. Using your key fob, double-click on the front trunk button.

OR

1. Using your Tesla mobile phone app, touch the front trunk button.
