Tesla Model 3: Release/Open Fuel Door

Tesla vehicles need to be charged before starting them up and going. There are several ways to open the charge port on a Tesla Model 3. These instructions apply to all current models.

2017 – 2022 Models

Using Charge Cable

1. Park your Tesla so the charging cable will reach it.
2. Press the button on the charging cable.
3. The door will open automatically.

Touchscreen 1

1. Tap Controls on the screen.
2. Tap the screen’s charge port icon (the symbol looks like a lightning bolt).

Touchscreen 2

1. Tap Controls on the touchscreen.
2. Tap Charging.
3. Tap Open Charge Port.

Outside

1. Make sure the Model 3 is unlocked, or an authenticated phone is nearby.
2. Press the bottom of the charge port door.
3. It will open automatically.

Key Fob

1. Hold down the rear trunk button for 1-2 seconds.
2. Release the button, and the door will open.

Voice Commands

1. Make sure your car is in park.
2. Press the right scroll button on the steering wheel.
3. Say “open charge port.”
