Replace AstroStart Remote Start Battery

Replacing the battery in an AstroStart is fairly straightforward, but here are a few tips to make it easier.

The AstroStart remote comes in two types:

Contents

Newer Remotes

  1. Locate a screw on the back of the battery case.
  2. Remove the screw and open the remote.
  3. Remove the old batteries.
  4. Replace the batteries with new ones. Be sure to replace the batteries according to the correct + or – positioning.
  5. Close the remote.
  6. Replace the screw.

Older Remotes

  1. Turn the remote on its side to locate a small opening along the seem of the case.
  2. Use a small tool to pry open the case gently. The end of the keychain works well for this part. Once open, continue to pry it open, working towards the top and back down the other side. This way, you don’t have to take the remote off the keychain.
  3. Now you can see the batteries and slip them out. Be careful not to bend out the contact. If it is moved too far, it will not touch the battery. It will then have to be bent back, or your remote will not work.
  4. You can now replace the two batteries. The positive side of both batteries should face up, away from the circuit board.
  5. Reverse these steps to put the key fob back together, and you’re set.
