The “Maintenance Required” or “Maint Reqd” light will illuminate every 5,000 miles to remind you that you need to change the oil in your Toyota RAV4. Once serviced, you can perform an oil reset using these steps.

Models with Touch Display (2017-2021)
- Use the ◄► buttons to navigate to the “⚙️ Gear” icon on the info display.
- Use the ▲▼ buttons to toggle to “Vehicle Settings“, then “OK / Enter“.
- Use the ▲▼ buttons to toggle to “Scheduled Maintenance“, then “OK / Enter“.
- Select “Yes“, then “OK / Enter“.
2006-2017 Models
- With the engine started, use the “DISP” or Trip Meter button (depending on model) to toggle the odometer to display “Trip A” mileage.
- Turn the ignition off.
- Turn the key to the “LOCK” position. Do not start the engine.
- Press and hold the “DISP” or Trip Meter stem button on the console.
- Continue to hold the “DISP” or Trip Meter button and turn the ignition back to the “OFF” position.
- Turn the key back to “LOCK“, then release the “DISP” or Trip Meter button. The display should have a progress bar going until it reads “0000000“, indicating the reset is complete. You can then release the button.
1998-2005 Models
- With the engine started, use the Trip Meter stem button on the console to toggle the odometer to display the full vehicle mileage.
- Turn the ignition off.
- Turn the key to the “LOCK” position. Do not start the engine.
- Press and hold the Trip Meter stem.
- Continue to hold the Trip Meter stem button while turning the ignition back to the “OFF” position.
- Turn the ignition back to “LOCK“, then release the button. The “Maintenance Required” light should be cleared.
After performing one of these sets of steps, you should have successfully completely an oil reset on the Toyota RAV4.
