Range Rover: How to Reset the Oil Light

After changing the oil in your Range Rover, here are 3 options to try if your reset indicator light does not disappear.

2012 – 2023 Models

Option 1

  1. At the same time, press and hold the TRIP RESET button and switch the ignition to the ON position without starting the engine.
  2. Continue to hold the reset button until SERVICE RESET appears within the dashboard.

Option 2

  1. Switch the ignition to the ON position without starting the engine.
  2. Open the HOOD and the DRIVER’s door.
  3. Press in the BRAKES and the ACCELERATOR at the same time and hold for 1 minute.
  4. Switch OFF the vehicle and switch it back ON.

Option 3

  1. Put the key in the ignition.
  2. Press and hold the trip RESET button and press the START/STOP button at the same time until the service light stops blinking 
  3. RELEASE the button, then PRESS again until DATE appears.
  4. Hold the button until RESET appears, then RELEASE.
  5. Immediately press again until RESET appears for each additional prompt.
  6. Start the vehicle to see if the light is gone. 

2001 – 2011 Models

  1. Turn the ignition key to the “On” position without starting the engine.
  2. To access the vehicle’s electronic menu, use the left-hand toggle switch and select “Service.”
  3. Select”Reset Oil Light.
  4. Confirm the reset.
  5. The oil light should flash or go out, indicating that the oil light has been reset.

1994 – 2000 Models

  1. Turn the ignition key to the “On” position without starting the engine.
  2. Press and hold the trip reset button on the instrument cluster for about 10 seconds or until the oil light begins to flash.
  3. Release the button and then press and hold it again for another few seconds.
  4. After releasing the button again, the oil light should stop flashing and reset, indicating that the reset process is complete.
  5. Turn off the ignition.

**If you are unable to reset the oil change notification light on your Range Rover on the first try, repeat the steps. If you are still unsuccessful, contact the dealership for assistance or consult your vehicle user’s manual.
