Range Rover: How to Open the Hood

As an owner, it is important to know how to open the hood of your Range Rover to carry out any maintenance work for your vehicle. 2001 – 2023 Models

1. In the cabin of the Range Rover, locate the hood release lever in the left front footwell below the steering wheel.
2. Pull the hood release lever, and you will hear the hood click open with a popping sound, indicating that the hood has been partially released.
3. At the front of your Range Rover, you will see the hood slightly open but still held in place.
4. Locate a safety latch located under the hood, between the E of Range and the R of Rover.
5. Squeeze the safety lever upwards and finally raise the hood.
6. Once the hood is raised, it’s on hydraulics, so it just holds itself up.

1995 – 2000 Models

1. In the cabin of the Range Rover, locate the hood release lever in the left front footwell below the steering wheel.
2. Pull the hood release lever until you hear a click.
3. The hood should be slightly open.
4. Locate a safety latch located under the hood, between the E of Range and the R of Rover.
5. Squeeze the safety lever upwards and finally raise the hood.
6. Use the hood strut rod to support the hood.
