Is your vehicle showing an ‘Oil change required’ message on the instrument cluster? This notification appears when your oil life is low or at 0%. After changing the oil, you need to reset the oil life manually because it does not reset automatically.

2019 – 2022 Models
- Put the vehicle in park.
- Push the Start/Stop button twice to put the vehicle in RUN mode.
- Press the right arrow ▶️ button on the steering wheel to scroll to the Oil Life section under the Vehicle Info menu.
- Hold down the OK button until the Oil Life resets to 100%.
2014 – 2018 Models
- Put the ignition in the RUN/ON position without starting the engine.
- Use the up 🔼 /down 🔽 arrow button on the steering wheel to scroll to the Vehicle Info screen.
- Press the right arrow ▶️ button to scroll to the Oil Life menu.
- Hold down the right arrow ▶️ button to access the Oil Life Reset option.
- Push and release the down arrow button to select Yes.
- Press and release the right arrow ▶️ button to reset the Oil Life.
2003 – 2013 Models
And for a classic old school trick that works on most GM vehicles, follow these steps:
- Put the vehicle in the park position.
- Put the ignition in the RUN/ON position without starting the engine.
- Press down on the gas pedal 3 times.
