2001 – 2010 Models
Note: You’ll need the keyless entry/key fob you want to program and any other keyless entry/key fobs that are already programmed for your PT Cruiser.
- Insert your key into the ignition and turn it to the “ON” position.
- Press and hold the “Unlock” button on a working keyless entry/key fob for at least 4 seconds but no longer than 10 seconds.
- While holding the “Unlock” button, press and release the “Panic” button once.
- Release the “Unlock” button.
- Press any button on the new keyless entry/key fob within 30 seconds. The doors should lock and unlock, indicating that the programming was successful.
- To exit programming mode, turn the ignition off and remove the key.
- Test the new keyless entry/key fob to ensure it works properly.
Note: If your PT Cruiser has an aftermarket alarm system installed, the programming procedure may be different. Consult your owner’s manual or contact a certified PT Cruiser mechanic for assistance.
Also, please note that this guide is only for programming keyless entry/key fobs and not for programming transponder keys. If you need to program a transponder key for your PT Cruiser, you must take it to a locksmith or dealer for programming.
Instructions seem do-able. Problem is she only has the one remote. That’s the one we need to program. Haven’t received the new one yet. Just want to learn what I need.
