How to Program Acura TL Keyless Entry

It takes about less than 5 minutes to program a Key Fob. However, you have to perform the steps as listed and not too fast or too slow. If you don’t do this properly, the programming will FAIL, and the battery terminal will have to be removed for at least 30 seconds. In this event, you would have to start the process all over again.

So make sure you follow the simple steps below to learn how to program a new fob or reprogram an old one.

2009 – 2014 Models

  1. Ensure all the doors, hood, and trunk are closed.
  2. Insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the “ON” position (do not start the engine).
  3. Locate the “Valet” or “Programming” switch/button on the driver’s side of the vehicle, either on the dashboard or under the driver’s side of the dashboard.
  4. Press and release the “Valet” or “Programming” switch/button 3x within five seconds. The vehicle’s doors should automatically lock and unlock, indicating that you have entered programming mode.
  5. Press any button on the keyless entry remote to be programmed. The doors should lock and unlock again to confirm successful programming for that remote.
  6. Repeat the steps for any additional remotes you want to program.
  7. Turn off the ignition and remove the key.

2004 – 2008 Models

  1. Ensure all the doors, hood, and trunk are closed.
  2. Insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the “ON” position (do not start the engine).
  3. While holding the “Lock” button, press and release the “Unlock” button 5x within ten seconds.
  4. Release both the “Lock” and “Unlock” buttons on the remote.
  5. You should hear the door locks cycle (lock and unlock) once to indicate successful programming.
  6. Repeat the steps for any additional remotes you want to program.
  7. Turn off the ignition and remove the key.

Check that all the remotes you programmed work correctly by testing the door lock and unlock functions.
