2020 – 2023 Models

  1. Go to the driver’s side door.
  2. Look above the emergency brake to locate the hood release lever with a picture of a car’s hood.
  3. Pull the lever, and you will hear your hood pop and spring up slightly.
  4. Go to your car’s hood and locate the space between the hood and the car’s body.
  5. In the space created, lay your hand palm down directly in front of the driver’s seat. Slowly move your hand towards the passenger’s seat to locate a secondary lever and push it to the left. The hood will pop wide open.

Note: If you put your hand palm up when opening the hood, you might not feel/push the lever effectively.

Note: You can use your index and middle fingers to pull the lever for these models.

1995 – 2010 Models

  1. Locate the hood release handle under the driver’s steering wheel instrument panel and pull it. You will hear the sound of the hood opening slightly.
  2. Head to your car’s hood, locate the safety catch and push it to the left using your index and middle fingers.

Common Problems Opening and Closing Your Nissan Murano’s Hood

In older models, you might have problems closing your hood because the hood release clutch might be stuck in the open position. If this happens, move the lever back and forth several times, then try to close your hood again.

Also, always make sure that your hood release cable is adequately greased. If it gets too rusty, it might make opening your hood impossible.
