Nissan Maxima: How to Release Fuel Door

Posted on July 5, 2019 by Mitch Bartlett 6 Comments

The Nissan Maxima has an interesting way for opening the fuel door. Here’s how.

  1. Unlock the car using the remote or the buttons inside.
  2. Exit the vehicle, and press the right side of fuel door inward. It will spring open, allowing you access to the gas cap.

This has got to be the most idiotic way to open a fuel door anyone ever thought of. Why in the hell do you want to unlock your doors while you get gas. Ever hear of carjacking ?

This is actually simple and safe. No gas thefts as long as you keep your car locked. To the moron who thinks your car will be carjacked, keep your keys in your pocket like most sane people

Does the 2020 Nissan Maxima platinum fuel door lock?

Anytime there is high air pressure or when I go through a car wash my fuel door is wide open.

I don’t think it does. I tested a few on the lot, and I was able to open the fuel door on each 2020 Maxima while the car doors were locked. This was a feature they failed to mention that they had removed, and I am very disappointed.
