First, Obtain the Radio Code

To reset your stereo system for your C230, first obtain your Mercedes radio code, also known as the Mercedes anti-theft radio code, by:

Checking Service Manual

The code placement in the manual is usually in the “Radio,” “Stereo,” or “Security” section or written on a bank card-sized paper inside the owner’s manual.

Call Customer Care Center with your VIN

Find and write the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). With the VIN, contact an authorized Mercedes dealer or the Mercedes-Benz Customer Assistance Center and proof of ownership, and they’ll provide you with the specific Mercedes-Benz radio code.

Visit a Mercedes Service Center

Physically visit an authorized Mercedes-Benz dealership. They’ll conduct a database check using your VIN for the Mercedes radio serial number and check for the specific radio code in their system database.

Once you have your code follow these steps based on your car’s year.

2010- 2022 Models

  1. Once you have the code, turn on the radio.
  2. The word “CODE” or “enter radio code” will flash on the screen once the radio is turned on.
  3. Enter your radio code and hit “Ok.”

2000 – 2009 Models

The steps are very similar for these models as above, but they’ll have numbered buttons rather than a touch screen. Follow the steps below.

  1. Turn on the radio.
  2. The word “CODE” or “enter radio code” will flash on the screen once the radio is turned on.
  3. Press the buttons corresponding to the radio code digits and hit “Ok.”

1996 – 1999 Models

  1. Turn on the radio.
  2. On the radio display, the prompt “enter radio code” or the word “CODE” may appear as a flashing “C.”
  3. Once this is done, turn the right-side knob, or the radio tuning knob, until the display “CODE” disappears and reveals a flashing “1” with four blanks or dashes.
  4. Keep turning the radio knob to change the numbers, press it once the correct number is reached, and move to the next dash.
  5. Enter all the code numbers, then press and hold the radio knob until the code entry screen is gone.
  6. The car should regain the radio function if you entered the code correctly.

Note: Ensure you punch in the correct code. If incorrectly entered three times, the word “WAIT” will appear on the radio display and remain disabled for about 10 minutes. If entered incorrectly again, it will remain disabled for about 60 minutes.
