Mercedes-Benz Sprinter: Reset Stereo System

Are you selling your vehicle or experiencing problems with a nonworking stereo system on your Mercedes-Benz Sprinter? Resetting your stereo setting is useful when you are selling your vehicle. Resetting the stereo system settings will erase personal data such as station memory and the phone book.

Common issues with the Mercedes-Benz COMAND system can occur in the main unit. The radio can also get stuck on the Mercedes-Benz logo, or it may randomly turn on and off. Sometimes, the radio might power on, but you may hear no sound, the COMAND is frozen, or the radio panel does not turn on.

You can reset your stereo to factory settings by following these steps:

To solve common issues with the Mercedes-Benz COMAND system, perform a soft reset of the COMAND unit using the following steps:

  1. Find the fuse box under the dashboard.
  2. Look at the side cover and locate Fuses 26 and 28. Remove both fuses.
  3. Look at the Left Side of the trunk to locate the second fuse box and remove Fuse 6.
  4. Remove the Key from the ignition, and do not turn on your car for at least 10 Minutes.

Note: Fuse numbers depend on your Mercedes-Benz model. Consult a fuse chart for your car model in the fuse box to know which fuse numbers have been assigned to the CD Changer, COMAD/NAV/DVD Player/Radio, Audio Gateway AGW, and the Voice Unit (If your car has one).

You can also reset your car’s stereo system when you have no sound or the mute/unmute button isn’t working. Try these steps:

  1. Press the power button to turn off your radio.
  2. Press and hold the power button for ten seconds.

A soft reset will restore the system to working order. However, there are chances that the problem might occur again. If this happens, seek help from a professional Mercedes Benz repair technician who will check available updates for your navigation unit.
