It took me a while to figure out how to program the garage door opener on the Mazda CX-5 that we own. Here are the steps.
How to Program the Garage Door Opener on a Mazda CX-5
On the underside of your rearview mirror, there are two garage door buttons on the far left, then an indicator light, then another garage door button. Each of the three garage door buttons can be programmed to open a different garage door.
Note: You will need your handheld garage door opener to complete the final programming steps.
- Hold down the two buttons on either side of the indicator light until the indicator light begins to flash.
- Release the two buttons.
- Select which of the three garage door buttons you want to use. (Button number 1, 2, or 4.) But wait to press!
- At the same time, press and hold the chosen rearview mirror button and the handheld garage door opener button until the indicator light flashes rapidly.
- When flashing rapidly, release the button. Your garage door should be opening by this time.
- Repeat for other garage doors.
That’s it! Your Mazda CX-5 garage door opener buttons should now be programmed.
