Mazda 3: Reset Oil Wrench Light

When the Mazda 3 system senses that an oil change is due, a wrench indicator will appear on the instrument panel. Once service has been performed, you will need to perform an oil reset using these steps.

2019-2021 Models

  1. Use the dial in the center console to navigate items on the display. Start by pressing the “Home” button repeatedly until you see the main menu.
  2. Turn the dial to highlight “Information” Push the dial in to select.
  3. Go to “Vehicle Status Monitor.”
  4. Select “Vehicle Maintenance Settings.”
  5. Select “Reset Oil Change Distance.”
  6. Select “Reset.”

2014-2018 Models

  1. Use the dial on the center console to navigate items on the display. Start by pressing the “Home” button repeatedly until you see the main menu.
  2. Select the “Applications” icon. Push the dial-in to select.
  3. Select “Vehicle Status Monitor.”
  4. Select “Maintenance.”
  5. Select “Oil Change.”
  6. Select “Reset.”

2009-2013 Models

  1. Turn the ignition to the “On” position.
  2. Use the controls on the steering wheel to go to “Maintenance.” Press “Enter” to select.
  3. Select “Service Due.” Press “Enter” to select.
  4. Press “Enter.”
  5. Select “Set.” Press “Enter” to select.
  6. Select “Distance.” Press “Enter” to select.
  7. Change the mileage until you wish to receive a service warning.
  8. Press “Enter.”

2003 – 2012 Models

  1. Turn the ignition to the “On” position without starting the engine.
  2. Locate the trip meter reset knob near the speedometer or the instrument cluster.
  3. Press and hold the trip meter reset knob, and simultaneously turn the key to the “Off” position. 
  4. Keep holding the trip meter reset knob and turn the key back to the “On” position.
  5. Hold the knob for 5 seconds or until the oil change light starts flashing or goes out.
  6. Release the trip meter reset knob.
