How to Reset Oil Change Light on the Nissan Maxima

Be sure to reset the oil change indicator every time your Nissan Maxima has the oil changed. Use these steps to clear the light.

2016-2021 Models

  1. Turn the ignition on, but do not start the engine.
  2. Use the “Up” and “Down” arrow buttons on the steering wheel to toggle the selection to “Maintenance“.
  3. Press the “OK” button on the steering wheel to go into the “Maintenance” menu.
  4. Use the “Up” and “Down” arrows to toggle the selection to “Oil and Filter“.
  5. Press the “OK” button on the steering wheel to go into the “Oil and Filter” menu.
  6. Use the “Up” and “Down” arrows to toggle the selection to “Reset“.
  7. Press the “OK” button to choose “Reset“.
  8. Use the “Down” arrow to highlight “Yes“.
  9. Press the “OK” button, and the “Oil and Filter” light will be reset.

2009-2014 Models

Models With Info Center Display

  1. Press the “Info” button.
  2. Use the down arrow button to toggle the selection to “Maintenance“, then press “Enter“.
  3. Use the arrow button so toggle the selection to the oil reminder (usually Reminder 1), then press “Enter“.
  4. Highlight “Reset Distance“, then press “Enter“.

Models Without Info Center Display

  1. Turn the ignition on, but do not start the engine.
  2. Repeatedly press the Nissan Page Button button to toggle to the “Setting” screen.
  3. Use the Nissan Circle Button button to toggle the selection to “Maintenance“, then press the Nissan Page Button button to enter that screen.
  4. From the “Maintenance” screen, use the Nissan Circle Button to toggle the selection to “Engine Oil“, then press the Nissan Page Button button to enter that screen.
  5. From the “Engine Oil” screen, use the Nissan Circle Button to toggle the selection to “Reset“, then press the Nissan Page Button button to enter that screen.
  6. Press Nissan Circle Button to reset the engine oil light.
