It can be a bit tricky to find the fuel release lever on the Kia Soul. I know I had a problem finding it when I rented one. Here’s how you can release the fuel door and get to fueling the vehicle.
2021 – 2023 Models
- Look deep under the driver’s side seat near the door. You will find a fuel door release lever.
- Pull this lever up to pop the fuel door open.
- Walk to the rear of the vehicle and open the door.
- Turn the gas cap counterclockwise to open and proceed with fueling.
2010 – 2019 Models
- Turn the car ignition off.
- Unlock the car and open the driver’s side door.
- Locate the fuel door lever on the driver’s side. It is situated beneath the driver’s seat and marked with a gas pump icon.
- Pull on the lever gently. The fuel door will spring open.
- Unscrew the gas cap you find inside in a counterclockwise direction to access the gas tank.
- Refuel the vehicle, and when done, screw the gas cap back on.
- Push on the fuel door until a click sound is produced to lock it back in place.
Note: If the fuel door fails to open, you may need to prop the lever using a pen or other device. You can also use a credit card to attempt to pry the door open.
