Jeep Renegade: How to How to Open the Hood

Opening the hood of a vehicle is a simple process. As a car owner, renter, or driver, you need to know how to perform basic maintenance without taking your car to a mechanic or dealership.

Below are the directions on how to open the hood of a Jeep Renegade.

2015 – 2023 Models

1. Pull the hood release lever located under the driver’s side dash.
2. Walk to the front of the vehicle.
3. Slide your hand under the slightly ajar hood.
4. Push the safety latch toward the passenger side of the vehicle.
5. Lift the hood.

Note: You will need to open the hood anytime you check the oil, add window washer fluid, check coolant levels, and do other basic maintenance tasks.

Closing the Hood

When closing the hood, do not slam it down. Slamming it down can cause damage to your car. Instead, lower the hood and press firmly down to engage both latches.
