When an oil change is due on the Jeep Patriot, the “Oil Change Required” light notification will illuminate on the instrument panel. You can reset this light using these steps.
- Turn the ignition to the “On” position. Do not start the vehicle.
- Slowly push the accelerator all the way down three times within ten seconds.
- Turn the ignition to the “Off” position.
The oil change reminder light should now be turned off. If it didn’t work, try these steps again. The light is programmed to illuminate every 3,500 miles to remind you to change your oil.
These steps should work on 2007-2017 Sport and Limited models of the Jeep Patriot.
Did these steps work for you? Let me know in the comments section below.

It worked the first time. I’m stunned. It was too simple.

I tried several times and still hasn’t turned off?

Same problem, my 2016 Jeep Patriot latitude doesn’t reset after trying it over dozens of times. Got oil change 2 months ago. Barely drove over 1000 miles since then and oil change chime goes on.
Victor Ramirez says
It didn’t work for me till I stepped on accelerator FIVE times. Give it a shot.

I did this 5 times, and still the alert comes on. I had the oil changed and the filter replaced. Grrrrrr.
