Opening the fuel door isn’t a daily task; it depends on how far you drive your car and how frequently. However, when you get a new car or rent a car, there are little quirks you may not be aware of. For example, you may not know if opening the fuel door requires you to push a button inside the car, push on the fuel door itself, or pull it open manually.
Below are the steps to open or release the fuel door on a Jeep Patriot.
2007 – 2017 Models
- Park the car.
- Turn the car off.
- Exit the vehicle.
- Move to the rear of the driver’s side.
- Insert a finger into the raised lip on the fuel door.
- Pull the fuel door open.
You will need to open the fuel door to fill the car with gas, pour in injector cleaner fluid, repair the gas cap, or repair or replace the fuel door itself.
