It doesn’t matter if you are a mechanic or not. You will probably need to open the hood at some point. Opening the hood isn’t a complicated process, but it can be confusing if you don’t know where the levers are. Below are the directions on how to open the hood of a Jeep Patriot.
2007 – 2017 Models
- Pull the lever on the lower left side of the dash.
- Move to the front of the vehicle.
- Slide a hand under the hood near the center.
- Push the safety catch to the side.
- Lift the hood.
You will need to open the hood to check the oil, pour new window washer fluid, and perform several other basic maintenance tasks.
If you are experiencing a severe mechanical issue, take your vehicle to a certified mechanic or dealership. Do not attempt to fix the problem alone unless you have previous experience working on cars.
