All models of cars and light trucks newer than 2008 are required to be equipped with a tire pressure sensor system. There are two types of tire pressure monitoring systems (TPMS): direct and indirect. Each system monitors the pressure within each tire to alert the driver when the pressure is below the recommended inflation pressure.
After changing the tires on your vehicle, the TPMS needs to be electronically reset to clear the error code. To do this for your Hyundai Santa Fe, follow the steps below.

2019 – 2022 Models
Option 1
- Set the key to the On position in the ignition with the vehicle turned off.
- After the car system checks, your car will display a warning indicating service required on the screen next to the speedometer.
- Press the home button on the right side of the steering wheel.
- Navigate through the menus until you locate the User Settings menu.
- Scroll down until you get to the Servicing Option.
- Select Enter to select the servicing option.
- Scroll down through the options, then select the Reset Option.
Option 2
Some systems have a reset button inside the glove box. To reset using this button, follow the steps:
- Set the key to the On position in the ignition, but do not start the car.
- Locate the TPMS reset button under the steering wheel.
- Press the TPMS button until the tire monitor system light blinks three times.
- Start the car; the sensors should reset in the next 20 minutes.
2013 – 2018 Models
- Set the key to the On position in the ignition, but do not start the car.
- Locate the TPMS reset button under the steering wheel.
- Press the TPMS button until the tire monitor system light blinks three times.
- Start the car; the sensors should reset in the next 20 minutes.
2001 – 2012 Models
To reset this model, you will need to have a TPMS tool and OBDII module.
- Park your car and turn it off.
- Inflate your tires to the correct PSI.
- Select the vehicle model in the TPMS Tool.
- Select OBDII from your TPMS Tool menu.
- Starting from the front left tire, use the TPMS Tool to scan each sensor, starting with the front wheels and ending with the left rear wheel (scan the spare wheel, too, if available).
- After the sensors have been read, use the TPMS Tool buttons to highlight the OBD option, then press enter.
- Turn the ignition to the on position but ensure the engine is off.
- Connect the Pro + OBDII Connector to the TPMS Tool.
- Then connect the tool to the car’s OBDII port.
- Select the upload car IDs from the TPMS Tool menu.
- Upload the sensor IDs.
- Turn off the ignition.
- Re-scan each tire sensor.
- Drive the vehicle for 10 minutes above 30mph to ensure the tire pressure monitor does not blink.
