How to Open the Trunk on the Hyundai Elantra

Posted on February 12, 2019 by Mitch Bartlett 1 Comment

Use one of the options below to open the trunk on the Hyundai Elantra.

If the vehicle has an automatic transmission, place the vehicle into “Park“. If the vehicle has a manual transmission, place the vehicle into “1st” gear or “Reverse“.

Do any one of the following:

  • Press and hold the trunk unlock button on the remote until the trunk releases.
  • Pull the trunk release latch located on the driver’s side floor near the door.
  • Press the handle physically on the trunk while the smart key is nearby.
  • Insert the key into the trunk key hole, then turn.

I locked my keys in the trunk of my 2016 Hyundai Elantra. I am about to attempt to open the trunk, with an aluminum rod by shoving it in between the door and the frame of the car to lift the lever on the driver side. I know the alarm is activated, so my question is will I still be able to lift the lever from the outside reaching in?
