How to Open the Trunk on the Hyundai Elantra

Use one of the options below to open the trunk on the Hyundai Elantra.

2020 – 2023 Models

Keyfob

1. Unlock your car.
2. Locate and press the trunk release button on the keyfob labeled with an open trunk icon.
3. Lift the trunk lid to access the trunk space.

Hands-Free

1. Have the smart key with you, either in your hand, pocket, or purse.
2. Stand within a few feet behind the vehicle.
3. Approach the trunk, and it should automatically unlock and open.
4. Lift the trunk lid to access the trunk space.

2015 – 2019 Models

Keyfob

1. Unlock your car.
2. Locate and press the trunk release button on the keyfob labeled with an open trunk icon.
3. Lift the trunk lid to access the trunk space.

Inside the Car

1. Unlock your car.
2. Locate and pull/push the trunk release lever on the driver’s side, either on the floor near the driver’s seat or on the driver’s side door panel.
3. Exit the vehicle and go to the rear of the car.
4. Lift the trunk lid to access the trunk space.

2010 – 2014 Models

Outside the Car

1. Unlock your car.
2. Stand behind the vehicle. Locate and press the trunk release button or emblem above the license plate or in the center of the trunk lid.
3. Lift the trunk lid to access the trunk space.

Inside the Car

1. Unlock your car.
2. Locate and pull/push the trunk release lever on the driver’s side, either on the floor near the driver’s seat or on the driver’s side door panel.
3. Exit the vehicle and go to the rear of the car.
4. Lift the trunk lid to access the trunk space.

1995 – 2009 Models

1. Unlock your car.
2. Locate and pull/push the trunk release lever inside the vehicle on the driver’s side, either on the floor near the driver’s seat or on the driver’s side door panel.
3. Exit the vehicle and go to the rear of the car.
4. Locate and press the trunk release button or emblem on the vehicle’s rear above the license plate or in the center of the trunk lid.
5. Lift the trunk lid to access the trunk space.
