Use one of the options below to open the trunk on the Hyundai Elantra.
2020 – 2023 Models
Keyfob
- Unlock your car.
- Locate and press the trunk release button on the keyfob labeled with an open trunk icon.
- Lift the trunk lid to access the trunk space.
Hands-Free
- Have the smart key with you, either in your hand, pocket, or purse.
- Stand within a few feet behind the vehicle.
- Approach the trunk, and it should automatically unlock and open.
- Lift the trunk lid to access the trunk space.
2015 – 2019 Models
Keyfob
- Unlock your car.
- Locate and press the trunk release button on the keyfob labeled with an open trunk icon.
- Lift the trunk lid to access the trunk space.
Inside the Car
- Unlock your car.
- Locate and pull/push the trunk release lever on the driver’s side, either on the floor near the driver’s seat or on the driver’s side door panel.
- Exit the vehicle and go to the rear of the car.
- Lift the trunk lid to access the trunk space.
2010 – 2014 Models
Outside the Car
- Unlock your car.
- Stand behind the vehicle. Locate and press the trunk release button or emblem above the license plate or in the center of the trunk lid.
- Lift the trunk lid to access the trunk space.
Inside the Car
- Unlock your car.
- Locate and pull/push the trunk release lever on the driver’s side, either on the floor near the driver’s seat or on the driver’s side door panel.
- Exit the vehicle and go to the rear of the car.
- Lift the trunk lid to access the trunk space.
1995 – 2009 Models
- Unlock your car.
- Locate and pull/push the trunk release lever inside the vehicle on the driver’s side, either on the floor near the driver’s seat or on the driver’s side door panel.
- Exit the vehicle and go to the rear of the car.
- Locate and press the trunk release button or emblem on the vehicle’s rear above the license plate or in the center of the trunk lid.
- Lift the trunk lid to access the trunk space.

I locked my keys in the trunk of my 2016 Hyundai Elantra. I am about to attempt to open the trunk, with an aluminum rod by shoving it in between the door and the frame of the car to lift the lever on the driver side. I know the alarm is activated, so my question is will I still be able to lift the lever from the outside reaching in?
How can I open my truck on my 2017 Hyundai Elantra I don’t have a key hole to open it with the key and the latches to pull the seats down are in the trunk of the car what do I do
