Hyundai Elantra: How to Open the Hood

If you’re unfamiliar with a particular car, simple processes like opening the hood of a car can be confusing. Fortunately, opening the hood of a car only takes a few simple moves.

2019 – 2022 Models

1. Open the driver’s side door.
2. Locate the hood release lever on the driver’s footrest area close to the bottom edge of the door.
3. Pull the lever upwards. The hood will open slightly.
4. Place your hand underneath the hood and directly above the Hyundai logo to locate the safety clutch.
5. Push the safety clutch to the left.
6. Raise the hood to open.

2000 – 2018 Models

1. Open the driver’s side door.
2. Locate the hood release lever on the driver’s footrest under the dashboard.
3. Pull the lever upwards. The hood will open slightly.
4. Place your hand underneath the hood directly above the Hyundai logo to locate the safety clutch.
5. Push the safety clutch upwards.
6. Raise the hood to open.
