How to Turn Off the VSC Light in a Toyota Prius

Whether you’re driving a brand-new 2023 model or cruising in a classic from the early 2000s, follow our steps to get that light out of your way and back to smooth driving.

2022 – 2023 Models

  1. Start your Prius and ensure the parking brake is engaged.
  2. Locate the “Vehicle Stability Control” button on the dashboard.
  3. With the car in “Park” or “Neutral,” press and hold the VSC button for 3-5 seconds.
  4. The VSC OFF indicator should illuminate on the dashboard, confirming deactivation.
  5. Release the button. Remember, VSC is important for safety, so only turn it off if necessary.

1997 – 2002 & 2015 – 2021 Models

  1. Turn on your Prius and make sure the parking brake is engaged.
  2. Find the “TRAC Off” and “VSC Off” buttons beneath the dashboard.
  3. While the car is in “Park” or “Neutral,” press and hold both buttons simultaneously for 3-5 seconds.
