How to set the Child Safety Locks in a BMW 3 Series

2018 – 2023 Models

1. Locate the rear door’s child lock button on the edge of the door.
2. Open the rear door and flip the child lock button to the “Lock” position.
3. Confirm the child safety lock is engaged by trying to open the door from the inside.
4. Repeat the process for the other rear door.

2011 – 2017 Models

1. Find the child lock switch on the rear door frame, near the latch.
2. Unlock the rear door and toggle the child lock switch to the “On” position.
3. Close the door and verify if the child lock is functioning from the inside.
4. Perform the same procedure on the other rear door.

1990 – 1996 & 2004 – 2010 Models
