How to Reset the Trip Mileage in a Toyota Prius

2004 – 2023 Models

  1. Start with the ignition on and the car in a stationary position.
  2. Locate the trip button on your Toyota Prius and press it repeatedly until you see the trip meter options (Trip A and Trip B) on the instrument display. 
  3. Once the desired trip meter is shown, press and hold the trip button for a few seconds.
  4. The display will reset to zero, indicating that the trip meter has been successfully reset.
  5. The trip meter will now start counting miles from your current location onwards.

1997 – 2003 Models

  1. Switch the ignition to “On” without starting the engine.
  2. Press the “Trip” button to toggle the display to the full odometer mileage (not trip mileage).
  3. Turn the vehicle completely off.
  4. Press and hold the “Trip” button.
  5. Continue to hold the “Trip” button while turning the ignition to “On” without starting the engine.
  6. Release the button when the trip meter is set to all zeros.
