How to Reset the Trip Mileage in a Nissan Altima

2019 – 2023 Models

  1. Locate the instrument panel, which is typically located behind the steering wheel.
  2. Look at the trip meter reading on the instrument panel. If your trip meter is not already at zero, proceed to the next step.
  3. Identify the “trip reset” button on the left-hand side of the instrument panel. It should be a physical button that you can press and hold.
  4. With the vehicle’s ignition on, press and hold the “trip reset” button. Keep holding it down for a few seconds.
  5. While continuing to hold down the “trip reset” button, you’ll see the trip meter reset to zero. Once it reaches zero, you can release the button.
  6. You have successfully reset the trip meter in your Nissan Altima.

2000 – 2018 Models

  1. Look for the trip odometer display feature just below the fuel gauge on the dashboard. (The trip odometer records the distance of two individual trips: Trip A and Trip B).
  2. To switch between Trip A and Trip B on the display, find the button located to the left of the display.
  3. Press the button once to change the display from Trip A to Trip B. Press the button again to switch back.
  4. If you want to reset the distance recorded on the selected odometer (either Trip A or Trip B), press and hold the button for more than one second.
  5. This will set the odometer back to zero and start recording the distance for a new trip.
