2010 – 2023 Models
- Remove the actual key from the key fob.
- Insert the key partially into the open area of the key fob (not all the way in).
- Pry open the key fob gently using the leverage provided by the partially inserted key.
- Carefully open the key fob to reveal the battery compartment.
- Locate the old battery inside the compartment. Take it out of its slot.
- Take the new CR2032 battery with the writing facing down and insert it into the designated slot in the key fob.
- Put the key fob back together and ensure it closes securely.
- Press the button on the key fob to check if the battery replacement was successful. If you see a red flash on the LED indicator, the key fob works correctly.
- Reattach the key to the key fob (if it was removed in Step 1).
2000 – 2009 Models
- You will need a screwdriver and a replacement CR2032 battery.
- Locate the notch at the bottom side of the key fob. Insert the screwdriver into the notch and gently twist it to open the key fob. Be careful not to damage the key fob casing.
- Once the key fob is open, you will see the battery compartment. The battery is usually located inside. If needed, use a smaller flathead screwdriver to carefully pop out the old battery.
- Take the replacement CR2032 battery and insert it into the battery compartment. The plus side (+) of the battery should be facing down.
- Align the two halves of the key fob casing and press them together until you hear a click, indicating it is securely closed.
- Close the key fob and check that the buttons are responsive.
