Your key fob is the gateway to convenience, but a low battery can hinder its performance. Don’t stress! We can guide you through the process of replacing the key fob battery in your car. Get ready to restore seamless access to your Ford Fusion with just a few easy steps.

2017 – 2023 Models

  1. Press the release button located on the bottom of the key fob to slide out the emergency key.
  2. Hold the key fob with the buttons facing down. Locate the slot at the bottom of the key fob where the emergency key was inserted.
  3. Insert the emergency key into the slot, and then use it as a lever to pry up the back cover of the key fob.
  4. Lift the back cover until it comes off completely.
  5. Take a small screwdriver or any pointed tool and locate the battery inside the key fob. Carefully get under the edge of the battery and remove it from its slot.
  6. Take the new CR2450 replacement battery and put the plus (+) side facing up. Begin by tucking the edge of the battery into the slot, then press down until it snaps securely into place.
  7. Align the back cover properly over the key fob and start by inserting the top part first. Slide it in until it fits snugly, then snap the cover into place.
  8. Place the emergency key back into its slot until it is fully inserted.
  9. Check the key fob’s buttons and functions.

2006 – 2016 Models

  1. Hold the key fob with the buttons facing down and the logo facing up. Flip open the key to reveal the inside of the fob.
  2. On the back cover of the key fob, you will find two notches – one larger and one smaller. These notches are used to open the fob and access the battery.
  3. Take a small flathead screwdriver and insert it into the larger notch. Gently pry up on the back cover using the screwdriver. Be careful not to apply too much force to avoid damaging the fob.
  4. Once the back cover is open, you will see the old battery inside. If the battery is still in place, use the screwdriver to carefully lift it out from under the edge.
  5. Take the new CR2032 battery and make sure the plus (+) side is facing up. Align the battery properly and snap it into place in the designated slot.
  6. After replacing the battery, align the back cover with the fob and gently press it back into position until it clicks securely into place.
  7. Test the key fob. If all buttons respond as expected, the battery replacement is successful.
