How to Program a Toyota Corolla Key Fob

If you own a Toyota Corolla, programming your key fob is essential to ensure that you can remotely lock and unlock your vehicle, open the trunk, and control the alarm. Here are the general steps to program a Toyota Corolla key fob, depending on the type of key you have:

All-in-one Key Fob

1. Sit in the driver’s seat with all the doors closed.
2. Turn your key in the ignition from “off” to “on” and wait 1-3 seconds.
3. Turn your key in the ignition from “off” to “on” again.
4. Close and open the driver’s door twice.
5. Insert the key into the ignition and remove it.
6. Door locks will cycle if programming was successful.
7. Test by using the key fob to lock and unlock the doors.
8. Repeat the process if the key fob doesn’t work.

Keys with Separate Remote

1. Sit in the driver’s seat with all the doors closed.
2. Within 5 seconds, turn your key in the ignition from “off” to “on” two times.
3. Open, close, and open the driver’s door.
4. Insert the key into the ignition and close the driver’s door.
5. Turn the ignition from “off” to “on” and back to “off” and remove the key.
6. Door locks will cycle within 3 seconds to indicate entering “program mode”. If they don’t, repeat the entire process.
7. Within 40 seconds of locks cycling, press the “lock” and “unlock” buttons on the remote for 1.5 seconds.
8. Release both buttons and immediately press the “lock” button for 2 seconds.
9. The locks will cycle one time if successful; two cycles mean it didn’t work.
10. Open the driver’s door to exit programming mode. Now you can test your remote.
