How to Program a Toyota Camry Key Fob

How to Program a Toyota Camry Key Fob

Here are the general steps to program a Toyota Camry key fob.

All-in-one Key Fob

  1. Sit in the driver’s seat with all the doors closed
  2. Turn your key in the ignition from “off” to “on”
  3. Wait 1-3 seconds
  4. Turn your key in the ignition from “off” to “on” again.

The rest of the steps have to be done within 40 seconds.

  1. Close and open the driver’s door twice.
  2. Insert the key into the ignition and remove it.
  3. Door locks will cycle if programming was successful
  4. Test by using the key fob to lock and unlock the doors

Repeat the process if the key fob doesn’t work

Keys with separate remote 

  1. Sit in the driver’s seat with all the doors closed
  2. Within 5 seconds
  3. Turn your key in the ignition from “off” to “on” two times

The next steps have to be done within 40 seconds

  1. Open, close, and open the driver’s door.
  2. Insert the key into the ignition 
  3. Close Driver’s door 
  4. Turn the ignition from “off” to “on” and back to “off
  5. Remove the Key
  6. Door locks will cycle within 3 seconds to indicate entering “program mode”
    1. if they don’t repeat the entire process

Within 40 seconds of locks cycling, finish the programming sequence

  1. Press the “lock” and “unlock” buttons together on the remote for 1.5 seconds.
  2. Release both buttons and immediately press the “lock” button for 2 seconds.
  3. The locks will cycle one time if successful, two cycles means it didn’t work

Open the Driver’s door to exit programming mode. Now you can test your remote
