Honda Pilot: How To Install Apps

Installing Apps in your Honda Pilot is simple and does not take long at all. Below you will find simple instructions on how to install and enjoy the many features apps have to offer.

2015 – 2023 Models

  1. Connect your infotainment system to the internet. You can do this by connecting to a Wi-Fi network or using a mobile hotspot.
  2. On your infotainment system, navigate to the app store, which may be called “HondaLink” or “App Center.” If you do not have the app store installed, you may need to download it from the Honda website and install it on your system.
  3. Before you can download apps, you may need to log in or create an account for the app store. Follow the on-screen instructions to create an account, if necessary.
  4. Once you have accessed the app store, you can browse and select the apps you want to install. Follow the on-screen instructions to download and install the apps.

2008 – 2014 Models

Note: Not all infotainment systems in Honda Pilot models from 2008 to 2014 support app installations. Check your owner’s manual or consult with a dealership to confirm if your system supports app installations.

  1. Connect your infotainment system to the internet. You can do this by connecting to a Wi-Fi network or using a mobile hotspot.
  2. Depending on your infotainment system, you may be able to access an app store directly from the system. Alternatively, you may need to download an app store app, such as Google Play or the Apple App Store, to your infotainment system.
  3. Once you have accessed the app store, you can browse and select the apps you want to install. Follow the on-screen instructions to download and install the apps.

2002 – 2007 Models

It is not possible to install apps directly on a Honda Pilot from 2002 to 2007 as these vehicles do not have a built-in infotainment system that supports app installations.

Phone Specific Options

Android

  1. With your vehicle in the ON position without starting the engine. 
  2. Connect to Wifi or a Hotspot.
  3. Insert a USB flash drive into the designated spot.
  4. Touch WEB BROWSER.
  5. Type in cmdroid.com in Google search.
  6. Touch the Honda’s PERMISSIONS app.
  7. Must also download FILE COMMANDER, then INSTALL and OPEN it.
  8. Touch INTERNAL STORAGE.
  9. Toggle down to the DOWNLOAD FILE, then OPEN it.
  10. Touch RECENT DOWNLOADED APPS.
  11. Touch the 3 dots next to this file. A box will pop up with Rename, Copy, Cut, and Delete in it.
  12. Touch CUT.
  13. Touch USB STORAGE.
  14. PASTE the file you cut into USB storage.
  15. You will see all the apps you just downloaded.
  16. Open the HONDA PERMISSIONS App.
  17. Touch PROCESS CONTROLS.
  18. Touch the + button located in the lower RIGHT side corner of the screen.
  19. Input information for any App you want to add, i.e., for Spotify, enter com.spotify.music.

*Do the same to add multiple Apps.

iPhone

First

  • Make certain the software is updated on your phone. 
  • Only use an Apple Cable that is in great shape so you don’t have any download issues.
  1. Plug the cable into the designated spot.
  2. With your vehicle in the ON position without starting the engine. 
  3. An AppleCarplay consent screen will pop up. Touch ENABLE.

  4. Compatible Apps are now visible for you to use.

**NOTE: If you are unable to install apps on the first try, REPEAT the steps. If you are still unsuccessful, contact the dealership for assistance or consult your vehicle user’s manual.

  1. Honda pilot 2018..i can download the apps – Honda permissions and the file commander, but will not let me install. It is grayed out when I get to install.
