Honda Odyssey: How to Open the Hood

The Honda Odyssey range of cars allows you to open the hood in two steps. The first step is unlocking the hood from inside the car, and the second step fully opens the hood manually from outside the car. This article precisely highlights the steps to open the hood of your car.

2018 – 2023 Models

1. Locate and pull the hood release lever on the left of the driver’s side seat beside the door frame.
2. Move to the front of the car to open the hood manually.
3. Insert fingers in the small space under the hood and locate the hood latch just above the Honda emblem.
4. Push the latch to the right to release the hood fully.
5. Lift the hood with one hand and use the other to reach for the prop rod.
6. Inserting the prop rod into a fitting hole to secure the hood.

2005 – 2017 Models

1. Locate and pull the hood release lever next to the brake pedal near the footrest of the car.
2. Move to the front of the car to open the hood manually.
3. Insert fingers in the small space under the hood and locate the hood latch just above the Honda emblem.
4. Push the latch to the right to release the hood fully.
5. Lift the hood with one hand and use the other to reach for the prop rod.
6. Inserting the prop rod into a fitting hole to secure the hood.

1995 – 2004 Models

1. Locate and pull the hood release lever on the driver’s side near the fuel door lever.
2. Head to the front of the car
3. Locate the hood latch just above the Honda emblem with your fingers.
4. Push the latch to the right to release the hood all the way.
5. Lift the hood with one hand and use the other to reach for the prop rod.
6. Inserting the prop rod into the small hole to keep the hood up.
