Honda CRV: Connect a Phone

Connecting your phone to your vehicle via Bluetooth helps you make and receive calls safely and listen to music, audiobooks, podcasts, etc. We prepared this guide to show you how to connect a phone to a Honda CRV.

2012 – 2022 Models

There are two methods to connect your phone to the HandsFreeLink (vehicle’s Bluetooth), depending on whether it’s the first or second phone to pair.

Pairing a Phone to the System for the First Time

  1. Park the vehicle and put it in the ACCESSORY/ON position.
  2. Press the PHONE button.
  3. Turn on your phone’s Bluetooth and make it discoverable.
  4. Rotate the knob on the vehicle stereo to select Yes, then press the VOL/PUSH/SEL button.
  5. Press the SEL button again to search for the phone.
  6. When you see your phone under the Bluetooth devices, push the SEL button to select it.
  7. If you can’t see your phone on the devices, select Phone Not Found.
  8. Scan for Bluetooth devices on your phone.
  9. Tap HandsFreeLink (HFL) when it appears on the phone.
  10. The HFL provides a four-digit pairing code.
  11. Enter the code when your phone prompts you.
  12.  The phone connects to the HFL, and a notification says pairing is successful.

Pairing Your Phone When There Is Another Paired Phone

  1. Press the PHONE 📞 button.
  2. Rotate the knob to select Phone Setup and press the SEL button.
  3. Press No when the HFL prompts you to connect a phone.
  4. Rotate the knob to select Connection and press the SEL button.
  5. Rotate the knob to select Add New Phone and press the SEL button.
  6. Rotate the knob to select Empty under Select Location.
  7. Press the SEL button.
  8. Turn on Bluetooth on your phone and make it discoverable.
  9. Press the SEL button to select OK.
  10. Push the SEL button again when your phone appears on the Bluetooth devices.
  11. If you can’t see your phone on the screen, select Phone Not Found.
  12. Search the HFL on your phone.
  13. Tap HandsFreeLink when it appears on your phone.
  14. Enter the four-digit pairing code provided by HFL when the phone prompts you.
  15. The phone successfully connects to the HFL, and a notification appears on the screen confirming the pairing.

2010 – 2011 Models

  1. Park the car and put the car in the ACCESSORY MODE/ON position.
  2. Press and release the HandsFreeLink (HFL) Talk button.
  3. If it’s the first time you are pairing the phone with the vehicle Bluetooth, listen and follow the step-by-step audio process given by the HFL system.
  4. If you’ve connected the phone to the vehicle before, say Phone Setup.
  5. When the HFL system asks again, say Pair.
  6. Turn on your phone Bluetooth.
  7. The HFL system provides a four-digit pairing code.
  8. Search the HFL system on your phone.
  9. Select the HFL system when it appears on your phone.
  10. Enter the pairing code.
  11. Your phone is now successfully connected to the HFL system.
