Honda Civic: Open Fuel Door

Learn how to open the fuel door on the Honda Civic with this tutorial.

2015-2020 Models

Note: There is no fuel door release latch on the inside of these models.

  1. Shut off the engine and unlock all doors.
  2. Exit the vehicle and locate the fuel door at the rear of the driver’s side of the vehicle.
  3. Press the rear half of the fuel door in. It will spring open allowing access tot he fuel cap.

2004-2015 Models

  1. Locate the fuel release handle on the floorboard to the left of the driver’s side seat.
  2. Push the handle downward to pop open the fuel door.

      Fuel door won’t open if car is locked! Lol. No one is stealing gas on this car.

    2019 model. I’ve tried that. It doesn’t work. Car is shut off. Doors are unlocked. I push that spot and it will not open. What do I do???
