Resetting the infotainment system is breezy.
Your infotainment screen will say something along the lines of the system has lost power. It will also detail simple instructions to get things back up.

- You’ll see a new message that alerts the driver to their responsibility for operating the vehicle safely.
- Press the ok button and you’re in.
2013 – 2015 Models
You can try resetting with or without a code
Going Without the Code
- Start by turning on both the ignition and radio
- Next, press the power knob for approximately two seconds. That’s it
Resetting With Codes
Hey, there may be times when the first option doesn’t resolve things meaning you’ll need to secure the code and key it in for the stereo to work.
Many drivers find theirs in the glove compartment. If it’s missing or you don’t have the anti-theft ID handy, you can liaise with any Honda service center near you. Alternatively, you can jump online to access it from Honda’s OEM site.
- Having retrieved the code, key it in via the preset buttons
- Voila! The system will unlock and then reset the audio system
2005 – 2012 Models
Here you’re going to require a radio code (we’ve already highlighted how to find it above).
- Get the ignition to “Acc” position but be sure not to start the engine
- Now press the tune/sound button then release it. “0” will automatically come up on your display
- Next, turn the tune/sound button to the right or left until the first digit shows up on your display. Lock in this number by pressing and releasing the tune/sound button
- Now turn the button again to select the second number, store it by pressing and releasing the tune/sound button then follow this procedure to the very last one
- Once this last number is locked in, the radio will unlock
On some models, reset only requires you to key in the code via the preset buttons.
2000 – 2004 Models
Option 1
- Press down the power button and keep it there for several seconds.
In many cases, this will resolve the issue and get your radio working again. If it doesn’t turn to option 2.
Option 2
- Turn on the radio
- Now input the radio code via preset buttons to unlock
FAQs
What does Code Error E mean and how can you reset it?
Code Error E mostly means that your battery is dead or you’ve newly replaced it. In this case, resetting the radio will involve retrieving a security code from Honda’s database.
These steps may help:
- Scan the unit for its serial number then call up Honda’s customer service with your VIN handy. They will pull up the code for you
- Get the ignition going and set your radio to “AUX” to input the code. Where your model doesn’t have an “AUX” button, check for “MODE” or “SOURCE” buttons
- With the radio on AUX, press the power button to switch off the radio
- Use one hand to simultaneously hold down 1 and 6 then use your other hand to push the power-on button
- Now input the code then release the 1 and 6 buttons. That should normalize things
What other radio-related Error Codes are there?
You may encounter Error Code E symbolizing low battery while Error Code P comes about when there’s an issue with your vehicle’s audio system.
For both scenarios, we recommend consulting a reputable dealer for help.
